Caring for rescued animals
Byron’s Resilience
When Byron came to our Ellis County Animal Care Center as a stray on December 14, 2021, it was almost too late.
Barely breathing after being viciously attacked by another dog and having sustained wounds all over his body, Byron suffered from a detached ear and had open wounds
which revealed the bone in one of his legs. Rescued from the back roads, he would have suffered horribly if he hadn’t been brought in for immediate care. Our veterinarians
rushed him to surgery where they were able to reattach his ear and treat his open wounds, saving his life just in time.
Our staff worked to provide him with all of the critical care he needed around the clock, with bandage changes, pain medications, antibiotics, and more to help him heal from his horrific attack.
Despite his trauma, Byron is a friendly, outgoing boy who just wants to be loved.
“He’s just the sweetest dog,” says Ellis County Animal Care Center Manager David Maldonado. Our vet staff has been taking amazing care of him.”
Byron has now recovered from his extensive injuries and is much beloved in his new home.
