Bringing pet wellness to the community
Vaccine Clinics
The SPCA of Texas held six free pet vaccination clinics in the final
months of 2021, providing $68,923 in services that directly benefited
communities, pets, and area animal shelters throughout North Texas.
The events, three of which were sponsored by Dallas County, provided
free rabies vaccinations, multi-disease vaccinations (DHPP for dogs,
FVRCP for cats) thanks to a grant from Petco Love, and microchips to
area pets.
Like all residents, pet owners throughout our community have faced
unique challenges during the global pandemic that have negatively
impacted income, transportation, and access to care. Marginalized
communities have been disproportionately affected, making the
vaccination clinics provided by the SPCA of Texas especially important
for the selected communities.
Overall, 1,948 free rabies vaccinations were administered, and an
additional 2,245 DHPP and FVRCP vaccinations were given. The clinics
also microchipped 1,520 pets and scheduled 137 pets for spaying and
neutering.
These events allowed the SPCA of Texas’ outreach team to interact with
area residents, educate pet owners about the benefits of spaying and
neutering, immediately schedule surgical appointments, and identify
additional services and resources through our Russell H. Perry Pet
Resource Center to help pet owners care for and keep their pets.
