Dr. Larry & Mrs Joan Rogers
Dr. Larry Rogers and his wife Joan have a long
standing philosophy on giving: When you have more
than you need, give part of it away so you can enjoy
the pleasures of giving while you’re still alive.
For decades, this philosophy has inspired the couple to
support the SPCA of Texas. In addition to the generous
financial gifts they’ve made over the years, they are significant
supporters of two of our signature events: Home for the
Holidays and the Fur Ball gala. The Rogers are also longtime
Legacy Society members.
And even though Dr. and Mrs. Rogers are both 93 years young,
you can’t beat their enthusiasm for Home for the Holidays.
“We love the dog houses! And the event raises a lot of money,
adopts out a lot of animals, and creates a good deal of publicity
for the SPCA of Texas,” Dr. Rogers admits.

This year the Rogers were the Presidential Sponsors for
Fur Ball, celebrating the SPCA of Texas’ 80th anniversary. As
an added bonus, Fur Ball Honorary Chairs, President George W.
Bush and Mrs. Laura Bush recognized the Rogers at the Fur Ball
Patron Party, which was sponsored by Jan and Trevor
Rees-Jones.“It was a big surprise!” says Mrs. Rogers.
“The fact that you take such good
care of animals is the main reason the
SPCA of Texas is one of the charities
that we love to support.”
