we’re working together to save lives. This year was a very successful year for our new AdoptionAmbassador Program! We’ve more than tripled the numberof adoptions from foster from 2017.The Adoption Ambassador Program began in July of2017 and has proven to help animals that struggle withbeing adopted out of shelters. The Adoption Ambassadorprogram benefits both the adopters and the animals, byhelping the adopters learn more about their future petsbefore adopting them and helping the animals put theirbest foot forward.1,368 Animals Fostered182AmbassadorProgram Adoptions510 Foster ParentsVisit: www.spca.org/foster to learn moreabout our Adoption Ambassador Program12 | SPCA OF TEXAS 2018Foster Spotlight: CarlWhen Carl came to the SPCA of Texas he was underweight, had severeperiodontal disease and was drinking and urinating excessively. Tests showedhe had several severe abnormalities, including diabetes. Because he wouldrequire medical care for the rest of his life, he was placed in Fospice, a fosterhospice program.Despite his age and physical problems, Carl was a social, playful and happycat. He ate like a champ, played with toys, enjoyed naps and most of all hejust wanted to be loved on. Fortunately, we found Carl’s foster mom Liz. Shestepped up and monitored Carl’s blood glucose every day and kept detailedrecords of his condition. Carl gained weight and he is now living like a king!Without Carl’s mom, Liz, none of this would have been possible. We aregrateful for all of our foster parents who welcome animals from the SPCAof Texas into their homes. They provide animals with a comfortable, lovinghome while opening up space for more animals at our shelters. The more animals fostered, the more lives saved!
