The grand opening and
formal dedication of the
Russell H. Perry Animal
Care Center and Spay/
Neuter & Wellness Clinic
was held on March 25, 2002.
1999
The SPCA of Texas
enlarged its Animal
Cruelty Investigations
efforts. Animal Cruelty
Investigations help not
only dogs, cats and small
mammals but also horses
and livestock.
2002
The Jan Rees-Jones Animal
Care Center, The Rees-Jones
Foundation Education Center
and the Myron K. Martin Spay/
Neuter & Wellness Clinic
opened on January 2, 2012.
2006
The SPCA of Texas took over
operation of the Village Fair
Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic,
now known as the Mary
Spencer Spay/Neuter &
Wellness Clinic at Village
Fair, in Southern Dallas from
The Humane Society of the
United States (HSUS).
2012
The Rees-Jones Foundation, the W.W. Caruth, Jr. Foundation
at Communities Foundation of Texas and The Dallas
Foundation awarded $13+ Million to help fund the most
ambitious spay/neuter initiative in the country. Through
the Southern Dallas Pet Initiative, the SPCA of Texas
partners to provide free spay/neuter services to pets
in 23 Southern Dallas zip codes.
The SPCA of Texas operated a 24/7 shelter in
downtown Dallas to house hundreds of pets of
evacuees in support of the rescue efforts in the
aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
2014
In December of 2014, the
SPCA of Texas purchased
a building in West Dallas
that became the Russell
E. Dealey Animal Rescue
Center. Russell E. Dealey
announced a $1 Million
naming gift at the Fur Ball
Gala in September of 2017.

2018
Celebrating
its
80th
birthday, the SPCA of
Texas’ Fur Ball gala sold out.
The event, held at the Hyatt
Regency Dallas, exceeded all
goals thanks to Honorary Chairs
President and Mrs. George W.
Bush, Chairs Cindy and Jennifer
Lindsley and Auction Chairs
Julia Howard and Sandra Fite.
