REDUCE AND RESTORE
SMI is committed to protecting, preserving and restoring natural habitats, implementing
sustainable driven initiatives and meaningful change - therefore ensuring our business
practices have a positive impact on the environment. In support of this there are 昀椀ve key
aspects across our environmental pillar: protecting and restoring biodiversity, a昀昀orestation,
reducing pollutants, minimising waste and utilising materials which have a positive impact
on the environment.
Water consumption
Biodiversity
Land resources
Responsible consumption
and production are vital to
sustaining water sources
for our marine ecosystems
and all living organisms. Ink
runo昀昀s, freight shipment
and microplastics play
a part in reducing our
oceans water quality.
Everyone must play their
part to maintain a safe
environment for our future
generations.
Biodiversity refers to the
number and diversity
within species or a
variety of life within an
ecosystem. Between 1976
and 2022 biodiversity has
declined by 69% (WWF,
2024). All human activity
contributes to the rise in
global warming and rising
sea levels which destroys
habitats.
Whilst Life below Earth,
focuses on our impact on
the oceans. All carbon
reduction contributes to
a safer environment for
our ecosystems. As part of
our biodiversity plan, we
are committed to creating
carbon sinks through
a昀昀orestation.
