PLASTIC WASTE
A signi昀椀cant amount of plastic ends up on our beaches
and in the oceans and seas. By switching to FSC cardboard
packaging wraps for our branded Rokwear gloves, we’ve
removed over 5 million polybags from our supply chain.
We have also increased the number of times our Hi-Vis
can be washed to 50 (double the industry standard)
making it cost-e昀昀ective to our customers in the long-term
and reducing the scale of production. We encourage
our customers to think before you wash, maintaining
an extended product lifetime which contributes to the
reduction of microplastics entering water streams.
PACKAGING WASTE
SMI understands the importance of
minimising outbound packaging. To address
this, we introduced a minimum order value
(MOV), which has successfully reduced our
outbound packaging by 33%, signi昀椀cantly
decreasing the number of boxes used for
shipping orders. This has helped us build
relationships with our customers to ensure
they are getting all items in one order,
therefore reducing losses and the carbon
footprint of our operations.
CHEMICAL WASTE
Chemicals used in textile
production, particularly excess
phosphorus and nitrogen, run o昀昀
into the oceans and promote the
growth of harmful algal blooms.
These blooms can be toxic to
wildlife and pose signi昀椀cant
health risks to humans. All
our partners adhere to strict
protocols for the safe disposal of
hazardous chemicals to mitigate
chemicals entering the oceans.

13% of global oil
pollution in oceans.
