Mangroves are coastal trees found in
tropical and subtropical regions, acting as
vital carbon sinks by storing up to 1,000
tonnes of carbon per hectare in their
biomass and soils. This “blue carbon” helps
protect coastal areas from 昀氀oods and
storms. Over 1,500 species, including 昀椀sh
and birds, rely on mangroves for habitat
and nurseries in the shallow waters.
The ‘Mangrove Resortation in Madagascar’
project aligns with the following UN
Sustainable Development Goals.
