3.3. Focus area 2: Zero accidents
Terratech is dedicated to the prevention of accidents associated with both
the manufacturing of our products and their usage. This commitment
encompasses various scenarios, including the utilization of our products
at worksites, installation processes, and the production and assembly
performed by our own employees. We strive to ensure a safe environment
throughout the entire lifecycle of our products.
To improve the safety of our customers, our main focus is to create safe
products that reduce the need for ground personnel and to improve the
overall work experience. Our quick couplers with front pin lock and ergonomic
joysticks are all engineering examples of products improving safety that will
be described further in this focus area. One of the large R&D projects during
2023 was to 昀椀nalize the development of the 昀椀rst third generation tiltrotators
as well as the new A9 joystick, of which both were released in the 昀椀rst quarter
of 2024. Even if the current market leading L8 joystick is in many aspects
the most ergonomic multifunctional joystick for excavators in the market,
the new A9 joystick introduces functions like haptic feedback which will be
used to give the operator sensory feedback in order to increase safety even
further.
With the new XTR20, the 昀椀rst of the third generation tiltrotators the new
LockSense safety system is introduced. LockSense will make the safety
functions future proof as we believe that new regulations could be coming a
few years into the future.
With an organization growing at a fast pace like Terratech, there is an increased
need for even safer products and a regular follow up of health and safety at
our facilities. There is also a need for improved ways of handling our potential
risks and counteract accidents and incidents before they happen. To achieve
this, and our goal of zero accidents at our facilities, we have improved our
accident and incidents reporting as well as improved some areas within our
production sites to be more ergonomic.
