3.2.2. Scope 2: Purchased electricity and heating
Both SVAB and Steelwrist already procure 100%
renewable electricity to power the facilities in Sweden.
This commitment ensures that we rely solely on
renewable energy sources. During 2023 a new
production facility was built for SVAB and in early
2024 the company moved from Hallsberg to the
new facilities in Åsbro. The new factory is signi昀椀cantly
more energy e昀케cient and we are now evaluating the
possibility to install solar panels in order to further
reduce overall electricity usage.
is assessed and scored in a number of di昀昀erent
areas like the building's energy use, indoor climate,
water management and waste management. Our
Rosersberg site was awarded “Excellent” with a 70,8%
total score and with 100% score on “Pollution”.
During 2023 a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) review was
performed on Steelwrist production and headquarter
building in Rosersberg. The BREEAM review process is
currently used to assess more than 500,000 buildings
whereby the building's environmental performance
During 2023 Sjørring also 昀椀nalized the project to
optimize the ventilation unit with liquid-coupled
batteries to ensure 70% heating usage.
We already changed much of the lightning to LED, and
we maintain a slightly lower temperature in o昀케ces as
well as the heating 昀氀ow temperature from 75° to 60° C
at Sjørring.
All in all, the total number of CO2e equivalents from
Scope 2 were as a result reduced by about 12%.
Of the total reduction basically all came from Sjørring
while SVAB remained 昀氀at and Steelwrist increased
emissions due to increased business activity. Despite
the decrease some 94% of total Terratech emissions
during 2023 came from the Sjørring production site
and the global work tool hub.
When splitting the total Terratech Scope 2 emissions
into market-based vs location based some 75% was
considered as market based and some 24% as
location based with only a fraction, 1% coming from
district heating.
