The Authors
CALLUM HILL graduated with a first-class honours’ degree in Chemistry
from the University of Bristol and was awarded a PhD for his work on Organometallic gas sensors from the CNAA. He was conducted research into
polymer degradation, non-aqueous colloids, non-linear optics, renewable materials and sustainability assessment. He is currently director of JCH
Industrial Ecology Ltd, an environmental consultancy, and is also senior
consultant at Renuables Ltd, where he conducts life cycle assessments. He
is a visiting research consultant at the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy
Research. He has written two books, 8 book chapters and over 200 research papers. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
PETER WILSON is a UK registered architect with more than 30 years’
experience of teaching and research in Higher Education and regularly invited to speak at international conferences on all aspects of timber.
He is currently leading the development of a pan-European accredited
programme of Continuing Professional Education in timber design for
construction professionals. He is a member of the Scottish Scenic Routes’
Working Group which aims to improve the country’s tourism infrastructure through the construction of competition-winning designs by recently
qualified architects and landscape architects. These projects additionally
aim to demonstrate / prototype new construction products and systems
developed in Scotland.
ALAN COULTAS graduated with first-class honours in mechanical engineering. An engineer and business strategist he has developed companies
and worked in heavy engineering, software engineering and economic
development. He coordinated the introduction, marketing and development of the Sioo products in the UK and Ireland markets. In initiating this
book Alan was able to indulge his passion for photography contributing
images for some of the iconic Sioo projects.
