Racquel Harrison
Racquel has sickle cell anemia and was told she could never have children.
Despite this, she was able to experience a healthy pregnancy and give birth
to a baby girl, Tiffany. Tiffany began attending child care at Signal Centers.
Unfortunately, Racquel9s car repeatedly broke down, preventing she and her
daughter from getting to important medical appointments and transporting
Tiffany to child care.
Racquel shared her challenging situation with her Family Forward case
manager who requested funds from the Community Foundation to cover
repair costs for the car. Racquel now has safe and reliable transportation for
her medical appointments and Tiffany can remain in regular, quality child care
each week.
Racquel has now enrolled in Signal Centers9 Work Ready program and
is taking early childhood classes from Chattanooga State and is seeking
permanent employment in the child care industry.
