ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY SERVICES
White Cane Day
Orientation & Mobility instruction provides individuals
who are blind with a set of foundational skills to use
residual visual, auditory, and other sensory information
to understand their environments. This is essential
training for individuals who are visually impaired, so
they feel more comfortable and self-sufocient navigating
public spaces.
Each October, Assistive Technology Services celebrates
White Cane Day where we work on these skills and
invite members of the public to try navigating without
eye sight.
