Issi Lamas
Issi Lammas (b. 1963) studied art and design at Harrogate, before completing a Fine Art (Painting) Degree at Gloucestershire
College of Art, were she experimented with a range of painting
and printmaking techniques to create atmospheric landscape
images. Fed up with being poor Issi embarked on a career in
countryside conservation - a different scale of landscape.
Returning to printmaking in 2007, Issi began experimenting
with collagraph printmaking. This technique of plate making,
which combines intaglio and relief, suits Issi’s painterly way of
working and its use of non-toxic chemicals chimes well with her
environmental interests. The shape of hills, the weave of willows, dramatic light and skies, disappearing orchards, flooded
landscapes and birds all inspire her. She exhibits regularly in
Gloucestershire and Herefordshire.
