Overview
The industry’s first annual DBP Inclusion Index for the Advertising, Media and Tech
industry was completed in 2018, and the numbers aren’t pretty. No one expected them
to be. Some encouraging evidence suggests that recruiting efforts are beginning to
grow diverse talent and advance women at all levels, although a snapshot of staff by job
level indicates that more work is needed to nurture and advance this very talent.
In terms of gender, the industry is relatively balanced as an entry-level workforce, but the
decline that begins at the senior
manager level gains momentum at
AMT ((Advertising/Ad Tech/Media)

the corporate executive level.

The drop-off for women of color is far
more dramatic, and the IDAC roundtable
participants focused a great deal of
attention on how those numbers might
be reversed. Some of the additional DBP
data (presented on the following pages),
also points to a few solutions.
* Over 124 organizations participated in the 2018
cross-industry DBP Inclusion Index. At least 12
organizations were included in each of the industry reports
for Advertising, Media and Tech (AMT) and
Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG).
