This course is a study of political theories and governmental structures, with emphasis placed on those of the United
States. Students also study U.S. foreign policy and its effect on international relations.
Computer Applications (.5 credit)

The Computer Applications course provides a foundation for the use of computer technology as an educational tool.
Students will use the Internet for research, learn to use presentation software, and create their own web pages. Students
learn word processing, spreadsheet software, database management, an introduction to object-oriented programming,
coding using Python, and graphics. The class also covers the ethical use of technology and explores careers in the field.
Economics (.5 credit)

The Economics curriculum shows students the big picture of economic principles, while preparing them to live in a world
where people work, buy, sell, and actively participate as citizens who make economic choices. Strengthening the critical
thinking and problem solving skills that students will need for making economic decisions is stressed.
Ethics (.5 credit)

The principal focus of this course is on developing an understanding of choices in daily life. Choices are broken down
into two categories, and a nine-step procedure is taught to assist in the decision-making process. The class explores
current events in the local and global communities to study social issues concerning our society. Additionally, students
examine the causes and signs of violence to help make better choices in their own relationships. Through the study of the
Nobel Peace Prize winners, students learn how individuals who strive to make good choices can impact the human race.
