Organizational Skills and Study Strategies - Non-Shelton Students
Grades 9 – 12
Strong study strategies and organization skills can greatly contribute to a student’s academic success. This class teaches
techniques of organization, how to study effectively and efficiently, time management, awareness of personal learning
styles, textbook marking, hints on positive class participation and attitude, outlining strategies for effective writing and
project completion, note-taking, successful homework completion, and test-taking strategies.

techniques of organization, how to study effectively and efficiently, time management, awareness of personal learning
styles, textbook marking, hints on positive class participation and attitude, outlining strategies for effective writing and
project completion, note-taking, successful homework completion, and test-taking strategies.
This course is required for all NEW Upper School Shelton students. (Not recommended for current Shelton students without the approval of the head of Upper School, as this study skills curriculum is taught daily throughout the school year.)
ACT Preparation (2 Hour Class)
Grades 10 – 12
Prerequisites: Algebra I and Geometry
Getting ready for the ACT? This two-hour class is designed to help students prepare for the ACT college entrance exam.
This class helps students better understand the concepts and topics covered on the ACT exam. Students learn strategies
that help them take the exam, and they have the opportunity to practice taking the exam and analyzing their answers
with the guidance of the teachers. This class provides one teacher for the math sections of the exam and one teacher for
the verbal sections.
