Speech, Language and Hearing Center
Speech, Language and Hearing Center staff provide individual and group
therapy for children both on and off campus. We also offer in-depth speech and
language evaluations, screenings for speech/language/reading/hearing/vision,
summer programs and staff development.
The Evaluation Center
A well-trained staff in the Evaluation Center offers assessment services for the
comprehensive evaluation and referral of children, adolescents and adults. We
also offer consultations to parents, professionals and school personnel.
The Outreach and Training Center
The Outreach and Training Center coordinates many programs for students, parents and teachers outside of Shelton’s
own regular school day and campus. Teacher training is offered locally and across the country to public and private
school teachers to give them the skills necessary to meet the needs of learning-different students. The Shelton Scholars
program provides support to learning-different students who have experienced difficulty in the traditional classroom
and who do not attend Shelton during the regular school day. The program is available on Saturdays and in a summer
morning program. It is especially geared to help students in reading, spelling, handwriting, auditory discrimination skills
and memory.
Shelton also collaborates with major medical institutions, including Children’s Medical Center Dallas for pediatric
rotations and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Dallas.
