APPROACH
Shelton’s Academic Reading Approach utilizes Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for
Students with Dyslexia. This program was developed by the staff at the Luke Waites Center for
Dyslexia & Related Disorders at Scottish Rite Hospital and is designed for children ages 7 years
old and older. The purpose is to enable students with dyslexia to achieve and maintain better
word recognition, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and aid in the transition from a
