MSLE
MULTISENSORY STRUCTURED LANGUAGE EDUCATION
Participants will be prepared to sit for the ALTA Competency Certification Examination and gain
national certification through the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) and/or the
Certification Exam for Educators of Reading Instruction for IDA certification. Graduates who pass
the exam are eligible for licensure in the state of Texas at each level. Certification for SEE, SALAMTA, and SARA-Take Flight are available at two levels.
Teaching Level Certification consists of a minimum of 90 hours of coursework, plus a 60hour practicum with a minimum of five demonstration lessons. A bachelor’s degree is
required to pursue the teaching level.
Therapy Level Certification requires a minimum of 200 hours of coursework, plus a 700hour practicum with ten to twenty demonstration lessons. A master’s degree is required by
ALTA and IMSLEC accredited courses for Therapy Level’s Certification by the completion of
the course and practicum.
Training at the instructor of Teaching and Therapy levels are available by invitation of the MSLE
course director only. Approved applicants will be contacted by the course director with more
information. You can apply to become a Qualified Instructor (QI) through ALTA with completion of
this training.

by
the
International Dyslexia Association (IDA) at the
Teaching, Instructor of Teaching, Therapy, and
