Regulatory scanning, screening of peer reviewed scientificresearch on chemical safety and product development work occur on acontinuous basis to ensure that any anticipated changes in legalrequirements that impact our products are known and addressed inadvance of formal regulatory changes being adopted. Sasol has a fewsubstances listed on the European Union9s Registration, Evaluation,Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals regulation (REACH) substancesof very high concern (candidate list). Sasol has stopped the production ofthree products over the last few years, since they had been listed on theauthorisation list. Our value chain is free of any materials relating to themultilateral environmental agreements on chemicals under the MontrealProtocol or the Stockholm Convention. With regards to our compliancewith the Basel Convention, we export spent catalysts containing preciousmetals for the purposes of recovery of these metals to be used in themanufacture of fresh catalysts. Our efforts reduce the need for miningand contribute to a circular economy. One Sasol product is certified underthe voluntary International Cyanide Management Code.Sasol continues to support CAIA in stakeholdereducation and awareness initiatives by compilingdocuments which seek to share important andtargeted information on key health and safetyaspects of methanol, e.g. uses, hazards and risks,personal protective equipment and emergencypreparedness.The ISCC PLUS certification promotes environmentally, socially andeconomically sustainable production.
