Secunda hosts one of the world’s largest synthetic fuels
and chemicals facilities, as well as one of the largest
underground coal mining operations in the world.
Govan Mbeki Local Municipality
is a South African Local
Municipality of the Gert Sibande
District, Mpumalanga. Secunda
is the seat of the municipality.
According to the Integrated
Development Plan, the area has
a population of about 340 091.
The predominant languages
spoken are Zulu, Afrikaans,
Southern Ndebele and Sotho.

Operations Hub remains one of
the company’s flagship
operations.

initiatives that enable
municipal infrastructure
delivery and maintenance,
education and health, as well as
developing local entrepreneurs.
