Complex illustrations use
shades and tints. This makes
the illustrations highly
distinctive and adds extra
dimension. The tints and shades
must be applied over their
corresponding base colours.

Colour usage
Complex illustrations use the primary, secondary
and tertiary colour palettes. Tints and shades of these
colours may also be used. This all serves to give you
enough flexibility to create sufficient differentiation
between types of information and data as well as
making your chart as rich and engaging as possible.
When applying colour to Complex illustrations
please ensure that the primary colour palette
has a strong presence. Because these illustrations
need to portray various recognisable objects,
it is permissible to incorporate more of the tertiary
colour palette. We recommend that no more than
three tertiary colours per illustration are used.
