Overarching principles for simple
and complex charts:
Construction
Typography within charts
When constructing charts, shapes and colours are
used to differentiate between data and to create
hierarchy between different types of information.
Charts can consist of various types and forms.
Our three basic shapes should still be the foundation
of these shapes and forms.
When applying typography within chart
graphics, please ensure that the information
doesn’t start too close to the edges of the
graphic. Titles within chart graphics should be
set in uppercase and centered vertically and
left aligned within the graphic. Paragraphs
of information need to be aligned top left
within the chart graphic. Shapes that contain
typography may not contain shades or tints.
