OUR FT CAPABILITY
Sasol’s unique FT
technology is deployed
at scale in Africa, the
Middle East and Eurasia
representing the largest
installed capacity of this
technology in the world.
Sasol first facility based on FT technology, with around 20,000 barrels per day (bpd)
capacity, was built in 1950’s in Sasolburg, South Africa. Subsequently, in early 1980’s, Sasol
built another large FT based complex, in Secunda, to produce approximately 150,000 bpd
of synthetic fuels and range of petrochemical products.
In 2006, Sasol and Qatar Petroleum inaugurated 33 000 bpd Oryx GTL plant in Qatar,
utilising Sasol’s novel low-temperature FT technology and catalyst. Subsequently, another
facility of similar scale and design started up in Nigeria (EGTL) and an even larger one, in
Uzbekistan (Oltin Yo’l GTL plant) is expected to come online in 2022.
With decades-long experience designing and operating FT plants at scales ranging from
10 to 150 000 barrels per day, around two thousand registered FT patents, and best-inclass catalysts that gives the highest SAF yields in the sector, ecoFT is uniquely positioned
to offer a feedstock-in, product-out commercially proven FT solution.
