When the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival started in 1970,
Noel Rockmore painted my portrait for the very first festival poster.
They created a space for me called the “Sister Gertrude Morgan
Tabernacle Booth” where I sang, preached, and sold paintings. I was
there with my megaphone to deliver the news!
