Sister Gertrude Morgan: The Mystic of New Orleans - Book - Page 60
When I first moved to the Everlasting
Gospel Mission, the yard was dirt.
I prayed that God would make it green. Soon
it was covered in little plants.
People thought it was four-leaf clovers. Later some
said it was a water fern. Maybe it was both. Since I had
two husbands, my yard could have two grasses.
Around 1969, God stopped me goin’ out into the streets.
He told me to stay indoors and pray and teach.
I used to tell my friends back then, “I’m getting along alright
I just be praying and talking with the Lord. I have my service
every night, preaching the Bible and singing and praying,
teaching the people. I’m setting here in the bed this morning
singing with a mind stayed on Jesus, hallelujah!”
