Sister Gertrude Morgan: The Mystic of New Orleans - Book - Page 52
One day I was out preaching in the French Quarter in my usual
spot on the corner of St. Peter and Bourbon Street. A man
named Larry Borenstein walked up to me and said he wanted
to sell my paintings in his gallery. That was around 1960.
Mr. Larry helped the musician, Allan Jaffe, and his
wife, Sandra, establish Preservation Hall where all
the old jazz musicians could play their music.
Larry sold my art in his gallery next door, and I
also preached and sang the gospel there.
Mr. Allan sometimes played the sousaphone along with me.
Even later when my hair was grey, my voice
was still on fire for the Lord!
