Sister Gertrude Morgan: The Mystic of New Orleans - Book - Page 40
When I went out singing in the streets each day
I always made sure Dada Darling was by my side. He
put the power in my voice! As the song goes, “Take
the Lord along with you everywhere you go.”
The musician, Dr. John, remembers me in the
1960s when I was on the corner preaching with six
tambourines—on my hands, my feet, and my dress.
He said I used to sing like James Brown to redeem sinners.
Boy, could I wake ‘em up and shake ‘em up back then!
