Sister Gertrude Morgan: The Mystic of New Orleans - Book - Page 14
When I was a little girl, I used a stick to draw in the dirt.
Later in my life the voice of God told me to start painting.
I didn’t need any special learning—Jesus moved my hand!
I was born to paint earth as it is in heaven.
I never went past the third grade, and later I had to
work as a housekeeper to help my family.
But I learned to read the Bible and write my poems.
I also played the piano, drums, guitar, banjo,
and especially the tambourine.
When the Holy Spirit moves in you, you’ve got to let it out!
