Master’s Candidate Reception
and Hooding Ceremony

n May 16, 2023, the College of SSIS held its
annual Master’s Candidate Reception and
Hooding Ceremony. Speakers included President
Nelsen, Interim Provost Carlos Nevarez, and Dean of
Graduate Studies, Chevelle Newsome. Our special
Guest Speaker was Nicole Cropper, a graduate
candidate from Public Policy & Administration. Nicole
is currently the Deputy Director of Justice, Equity,
Diversity, Inclusion, and Tribal Affairs at the California
Department of Fish and Wildlife under the Natural
Resources Agency.
