Committee members have discovered
Zoom and now meet each month on
computer, laptop or ipad with varied
success, depending on signal strength!
Our newest committee member, Linda
Harrild went on holiday to Portugal just
before lockdown….and she is still there, but joins us from her patio.
President, Kathy Godber, and Secretary, Melanie Phelps, have finalised the
Speakers list for 2021, with every booking confirmed.
Matfield WI will be celebrating its Centenary in October 2021 and the
committee are busy organising special events, details to follow later in the year.
Suffice it to say that the venue and entertainment for a special dinner have been
booked.
The Book Circle also meet on Zoom once a month to discuss books they have
been reading. Our set reading list is on hold until the libraries reopen.
The Committee all hope that members are keeping well and staying safe.

Brimstone
he male brimstone is the only large, lemon-yellow butterfly in the UK, so is
unmistakeable. The female is cream and can be confused with the large
white. Brimstones live for a
whole year. They hibernate
in plant cover such as ivy,
where their scalloped, veined
wings closely resemble leaves,
providing excellent camouflage
Brimstone caterpillars feed
on the leaves of buckthorn
and alder buckthorn. The
butterflies are particularly
drawn to purple flowers such as
thistles.
