The PlasticBlitz 2024 - Brie昀椀ng for Rotary Clubs
Dates: 22nd June - 7th July 2024 (Anytime May or June)
Clubs can work alone or in small groups of 2 or 3 and
where ever possible with schools and other community
groups.
Clubs will set up a management committee - normally
headed by the Club environment or Community Chair.
Clubs should register as soon as possible with
Thames21, using the dedicated Rotary entry link.
On the conclusion of the pick the data should be
submitted to Thames21 for inclusion in the EU scienti昀椀c
study.
It is not di昀케cult to organise a litter pick:
Identify a suitable section of river or tributary.
Register your intention with Thames21, this will allow
you to see if any other groups are working in your
chosen area - try to work with them to maximise impact.

Contact your local council and get them on board.
They may well be willing to provide litter pickers and
waste bags - they may be willing to collect from you.

Sort re-cyclable and non-recyclable waste and if
possible take part in the scienti昀椀c study.

If you are in an area other than the river bank /
public footpath or other right of way, contact the land
owner for permission.
�
This is a community event - so involve the
community by recruiting additional volunteer collectors
from outside Rotary, ie local environment groups etc.
Don’t forget to involve Interact, Rotaract and schools
Sea Cadets and Scouts can count this type of activity
