It was estimated that the UK created
more than 4.9 million tons of plastic
waste in 2021. We decided It’s time for
us to get rid of as much as possible
from our beautiful river. That’s why
Rotary Clubs from Henley, Winnersh &
Bin昀椀eld organised a River Litter Pick
last October 2021. Members from 5
Clubs and local residents helped to
sweep the Thames of plastic and other
rubbish between Sonning and Shiplake
locks. Three boats (Dories) supplied by
Thames Rescue Service worked the
river while volunteers on land cleared
along the towpath.
