In February 2020, the old Partner RZ app is
replaced by a new Rijk Zwaan app. In this app,
which was developed exclusively by Rijk Zwaan,
customers can easily view the current local
product portfolio and display an overview of the
various products on the Rijk Zwaan demo fields.
Although a number of important steps have been
taken, Gertjan Kleinhout says that Rijk Zwaan is
just starting to digitise the ‘customer journey’.
‘However,’ he adds, ‘it will always be just a supplement to what we do physically. We’ll continue to
visit our many customers and give them advice. [...]
We’re a company that very much enjoys working
with our customers, and we also believe in the
power of personal contact.’
The corona pandemic gives additional impetus to
the digitisation of customer contact. Travel is no
longer possible and no live demos can be staged.
However, by organising digital demos Rijk Zwaan
can still present its new varieties to customers.
To make this possible, Rijk Zwaan builds four of
its own video studios with the necessary professional equipment in De Lier, Fijnaart, Spain and
Hungary. After the corona crisis, clients realise that
it is no longer necessary to be physically present
everywhere every year, and the studios are still
regularly used. Nevertheless, personal contact with
customers remains paramount in this area too.
