‘Breeding in Africa for Africa’
In 2008, Rijk Zwaan sets up its subsidiary
RZ Afrisem in Arusha, Tanzania. Afrisem is a
unique initiative for which Rijk Zwaan joins forces
with competitor East-West Seed, a vegetable
breeding company that was launched in 1982 in
South-east Asia and that specialises in vegetable
breeding for the tropical market. Afrisem’s goal
is to develop vegetable varieties for the tropical
African market. Employees of Rijk Zwaan’s seed
production company RZ QSEM regularly visit

InSeeds
Given Rijk Zwaan’s continuous growth and internationalisation, a big
challenge lies ahead for the organisation: how do we ensure that we
safeguard the feeling of being globally united and continue to truly
work together? To increase work efficiency, facilitate collaboration and
strengthen the bond between employees worldwide, Rijk Zwaan has
chosen to implement a new internal information and communication
platform with a global approach.
In 2010, Rijk Zwaan kicked off the introduction and global roll-out of a new
intranet called InSeeds. InSeeds centralises Rijk Zwaan’s information supply
and makes it easier to find and share information inside the company.
This in turn enables all Rijk Zwaan colleagues worldwide to work together
in the most efficient way possible. InSeeds also allows users to interact
with each other by means of an integrated Rijk Zwaan Social Media platform.
