LCpl Price joined the army in 2017 and
has since completed numerous exercises
in Oman and France. He more recently
completed a Junior Non-Commisioned
Officers Cadre which saw him promote to
Lance Corporal before passing a Physical
Training Instructor course, allowing him
to take Company PT sessions back at
Battalion.
Rifleman Rebecca Connolly Joined B
Company, 7 RIFLES in 2018 and was the
first female reservist to successfully pass
the Combat Infantry Course in the summer
of 2019.
LCpl Price enjoys the responsibility of
ensuring the Company are fit and ready to
deploy on operations and exercises. He
has also had the opportunity to take part
in a 2-week mountain biking expedition in
Spain.
The single mother of four is a professional
boxer by trade and trains out of
Fitzpatrick’s Boxing Gym in Swindon. She
is also a personal trainer and runs her own
nutritional business.
Rebecca is keen to become a Physical
Training Instructor and enjoys the rigours
and challenges of being a Rifleman in the
Army Reserve.

Hometown: Devizes
Shyan joined the ACF aged 12 and
thrived from the outset. She holds a host
of achievements under her belt and
was promoted to Serjeant before her
14th birthday. She was the Second-inCommand of the County’s successful team
in the 2018 RIFLES Cadet Cup and also a
key member of the 2019 Cambrian Patrol
team, which gained Gold at the event. She
has completed the 4 Star ACF syllabus
and passed the Master Cadet course in
Autumn 2019. Away from cadet life, Shyan
is a prefect at her current school and
works in a charity shop.
Reginald Hayward’s parents lived in
Lacock, Wiltshire before emigrating to
South Africa where he was born. Reginald
was in England studying to be a veterinary
surgeon when war was declared, he was
commissioned into 1/WILTS in 1914, serving
on the Western Front throughout WWI.
Among other medals for bravery, Hayward
won a Victoria Cross at Frémicourt in
1918, where, despite being blown up,
buried, badly wounded in the head
(twice), rendered deaf and having an arm
completely shattered, continued to lead
his men in a spirited defence of his section
of the line.
