Father and son Jason and Alfie Carpenter
from Broseley are enthusiastic members
of Shropshire ACF. Jason joined as an
Adult Under Officer in 2017 and hopes to
attend Royal Military Academy Sandhurst
in the future. He particularly enjoys
teaching fieldcraft to his detachment.
Alfie also joined in 2017 and now holds
the rank of Cadet Colour Serjeant. He
has taken part in several adventure
training expeditions and would like to gain
instructor qualifications. He also hopes to
gain further promotion and, in due course,
join The Rifles.
Darren Crook

Hometown: Shrewsbury
Darren Crook joined 2nd Battalion The
Light Infantry (LI) in Tidworth in 1989 and
subsequently served with 1 LI, Infantry
Training Centre, 2nd Battalion The Royal
Green Jackets (RGJ) and 5 RIFLES,
finishing his regular service at the RSTT
in Shrewsbury, from which he joined 6
RIFLES.
He is a veteran of four operational tours
in Northern Ireland and three in Iraq, and
undertook training in Belize, USA, Canada,
Jordan, Egypt and Poland. Darren has
been a member of the Shrewsbury Branch
of the LI and Rifles Association since 2010.
