Rifleman Reece Lenton joined the army
in 2019 aged 18. He completed his initial
training at the Infantry Training Centre in
Catterick before joining 1 RIFLES in late
2019.
Rifleman Reade Wilson-Harris joined the
Army Reserves in 2018 and is responsible
for recruiting for E Coy 8 RIFLES, at the
Sparkbrook Reserve Centre. Over the past
two years, he has deployed to Jordan and
Kenya alongside 2 RIFLES where he was
given the opportunity to conduct live fire
exercises.
He was the youngest member of 7 Platoon
deployed to the Falkland Islands on Op
FIRIC. As a proud Brummie he has often
described Birmingham as the biggest
tourist attraction in the UK.
Reece joined the Army to travel the world,
see other countries and be exposed to a
variety of cultures.
A keen sportsman, Reade plays for the
Battalion Football Team, and has taken
part in a skiing Adventurous Training
Exercise in France. Being an Army
Reservist with The Rifles has taught him
many different skills and has given him
friends for life.

Zaynah Joined the CCF in Year 8 and has
been the main stay of the contingent.
She has worked hard to achieve her
advanced star level, along with completing
her Methods of Instruction (MOI) course.
Earlier this year she completed her
Level 2 Award for Young Leaders, which
was presented virtually, by Brigadier
SC Williams OBE, Deputy Commander
Cadets. Zaynah is also very active within
Academy life, where she is also part of the
choir. Zaynah has signed up for the Silver
Duke of Edinburgh Award, of which it is
hoped to be completed by July 2021.

Mark joined 2nd Battalion the Royal
Green Jackets (RGJ) in Minden, West
Germany, in 1984. He initially joined an SF
Platoon but subsequently moved to a Rifle
Company as a 432 driver. On posting to
IBD Warminster, he became a gunner on a
Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle. Following
a tour in Northern Ireland, Mark moved
to Light Division Depot, Winchester as a
Physical Training Instructor and after a
brief spell with 2RGJ in Cyprus, he left the
Army in 1994.
Mark has been a Police Officer for nearly
30 years, the last 15 of which as a Firearms
Officer, specialising in Close Protection.
