As a STEAM music teacher, I am constantly
searching for ideas to connect my classroom
to the outside world. The Rhythm Clock has
unlimited possibilities. By using the DVD,
the kids are able to learn dictation while
connecting the note values to both math
and science. Without the DVD, rhythmic
composition is a breeze. The circular shape
helps my students understand that only 4 beats
can fit into a 4/4 measure.

The Rhythm Clock is both a music and math manipulative
that provides a great STEM to STEAM bridge.

THE RHYTHM CLOCK™
This cross-curricular learning tool came out of The STREAM-liners program, run by an organization called The
Artist Outreach. Founded by Joseph Vincelli, they integrate music with other subjects, such as vocabulary
and geometry, in order to reach learners of all types. The clock comes with a board with the 12, 3, 6 and 9
delineated and comes with manipulatives that allow learning in a number of different areas. All pieces have the
note on one side and the corresponding rest on the other side and feature the Note Knacks® color system. You
receive: 1 whole note/rest, 2 half note/rests, 4 quarter note/rests, 8 eight notes/rest, and 16 sixteenth notes/rest.
• The clock also shows the 4 directions with north pointing on the “12” position on the clock and features
fractions on the note side with corresponding decimals on the rest side.
• Each piece features the percentage of the circumference of the board.
• The back of the board has a table of shapes, fractions, decimals, notes, rests, degrees, percentage, and money
• Includes a DVD that plays all of the sample rhythms so your students can experience the sounds as well!
