An introduction will be given of the strong evidence base and rationale behind the use of internetbased psychological interventions for use within the primary care setting, particularly where access to
face-to-face psychological therapies is difficult. Internet-based psychological interventions are widely
used in Australia and can be accessed online internationally. Case studies of the application of the
Australian online applications ‘Smiling Mind’ and ‘My Compass’ for treatment of anxiety, depression
and sleep disorders will be explored. Role-play and small-group discussion will be used to help
general practitioners consider how this resource could be used within their clinical context.
The audience will learn what internet-based psychological therapies are available to assist in the
mental health care of their patients, and gain practical skills and resources to integrate these into their
clinical practice.
