Based on the global tuberculosis report, Indonesia ranked the third largest contributor to the
tuberculosis cases in 2020, globally. The government, through primary care centre, has been
implementing a few policies and programs to eliminate tuberculosis in Indonesia. However, there is still
room for improvement for the implementation to achieve the required goals. The study aimed to do an
evaluation process using the IPO model in tuberculosis program from November 2021 to November
2022 in one public primary care centre in a subdistrict in northern Jakarta. Data were obtained from
the tuberculosis information system in the primary healthcare and subdistrict office. According to the
data, from the total of 144,473 population in the subdistrict, there were 636 patients suspected to
have tuberculosis, with 21% (133 patients) of them testing positive. Among them, 62% (83 patients)
and 34% (45 patients) received treatment at the primary care centre and the regional hospital due to
tuberculosis-resistance cases, respectively. Meanwhile, the rest of the patients (3.75%) were drop-out
cases for unknown reason. Furthermore, among the treated cases, 21.7% of them had yet to finish
the treatment and were lost to follow up. From the process evaluation using the IPO model, it leads to
the fact that factors affecting the tuberculosis program was due to lack of health promotion by both
practitioners and cadres to encourage patients for completing the regiment therapy. Also, intersectoral
collaboration has been found lacking in the tuberculosis program.
Goals
Call experts for action in looking for the solution to eliminate tuberculosis in 2030.
