ABOUT US
Queensland Museum includes our museums around the state— Queensland
Museum Rail Workshops in Ipswich, Queensland Museum Cobb+Co in Toowoomba,
and Queensland Museum Tropics in Townsville, alongside the iconic Queensland
Museum, established in 1862, and our Collections & Research Centre, both
in Brisbane.
In this vast state, not everyone can visit us in person.
Our growing Museum Online offers a virtual connection to discover the collections.
The QM Loans program—one of the largest in the world—takes authentic objects
and artefacts to schools and community groups across Queensland.
And our Museum Development Officers based in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay,
Toowoomba and Ipswich provide guidance and expertise to the many small
museums, historical societies and Indigenous Keeping Places that also care for
Queensland’s stories in remote, rural and regional communities.
QM Loans sends educational kits to schools, early years, aged
care and community groups all across Queensland, putting
them in touch—literally—with our cultural and natural history.
