ISSUE NO.13 SUMMER 2024 | WEST KENT NEWS 9
ASSISTANT PROVINCIAL
GRAND MASTER:
PETER BROOKER
Although the Masonic Season is fast
approaching its annual short break,
now is the time to plan and focus on
the future and in particular growing
our
membership
and
retaining
existing members. Don9t wait until the
next Lodge meeting to speak to those
you have not seen in a while, but give
them a call over the summer months,
just to see that they are doing okay.
In an organisation steeped in history
and tradition, change can sometimes
be difficult to accept. However,
history tells us that institutions that
adapt and evolve stand a much
greater chance of continued success.
Change does not mean discarding
traditions, but rather embracing new
opportunities. This helps develop new
methods to ensure meetings are kept
vibrant and interesting for the benefit
of all our members. One area we
must retain is 8Ritual9, which is the
backbone of Freemasonry.
Ritual sets us apart from other
organisations and although not
everyone can be a great 8Ritualist9, all
we ask of one another is to do our
best to learn any part of the 8Ritual9
we have committed to presenting.
If you are not a member of a Royal
Arch Chapter, speak to those who are
and find out why they enjoy going to
Chapter meetings so much.
Membership of the Royal Arch will
give you a much more fulfilled and
enriched experience of Freemasonry
in general.
I have had many wonderful
experiences as a Freemason,
including the privilege of presenting
members with long service citations,
the
most
recent
being
the
presentation to John Doherty, a
Founder member of the Town of
Bridges Lodge No9563. John is
seen here with the current master,
Colin Tidbury, who also happens to
be the first Initiate of the Lodge!
I would like to take this opportunity
to thank all the Lodges in Group
Three who have made such
amazing contributions to-date to the
2026 Festival. You are playing your
part
in
supporting
West
Kent
Freemasons and their dependants by
contributing to the Festival in order to
raise money for the Masonic Charitable
Foundation.
Should you need advice or assistance on
any Lodge or Provincial matter, please
do not hesitate to contact me.
