Building on our Success
Since inception, Cyclotron Road has hosted
66 fellows focusing on advanced energy,
materials, and manufacturing technologies.
Each annual cohort generally receives more
than 200 applications; those selected must go
through a rigorous process to be chosen.
Since 2015, our fellows have:
• Raised more than $215 million in
follow-on funding to support the
development of their technologies
into products
Fellows have access to Berkeley Lab’s
world class facilities, essential in any
research operation:
• Built more than 25 prototypes
while in the program, including
multiple world-record setting
devices
• Molecular Foundry
• Hired more than 240 employees
• Advanced Biofuels Process
Demonstration Unit (ABPDU)
• Engaged more than 100 industry
veterans as advisors
• Benefitted from millions of dollars
in research and development
infrastructure and scientific
expertise to accomplish even more
with existing resources
Cyclotron Road recognizes the excellent
support from Berkeley Lab Leadership for
the program; funding from DOE’s Advanced
Manufacturing Office and other offices
in EERE, the Defense Advanced Research
Projects Agency (DARPA), and the California
Energy Commission, as well as private
industry and philanthropy.
