ETA 2021 Strategic Plan - Flipbook - Page 123
Optics: Calculates the optical properties of glazing
systems composed of multiple glazing layers, laminates,
and coatings.
Radiance: Evaluates lighting levels and lighting
quality from daylight and electric light in virtually any
environment.
RESFEN (Residential Fenestration): Helps consumers and
builders pick the most energy-efficient and cost-effective
window for a given application, for new homes, additions,
or as window replacements by calculating heating and
cooling energy use and associated costs, as well as peak
heating and cooling demand for specific window products.
THERM: Models two-dimensional heat-transfer effects in
building components such as windows, walls, foundations,
roofs, and doors. It is useful where thermal bridges are of
concern.
Berkeley Lab WINDOW: Calculates thermal and solaroptical performance of window and shading systems.
Occupant Behavior Modeling
Non-Routine-Variability Gem: An OpenStudio extension
gem for modeling realistic building operations.
obXML Occupant Behavior XML: An XML schema to
standardize the representation and exchange of occupant
behavior models.
obFMU Occupant Behavior FMU: A functional
mockup unit (FMU) featuring occupant behaviors that
can co-simulate with building simulation tools such as
EnergyPlus.
Occupancy Simulator: A web-based tool to simulate
occupant presence and movement in buildings using
an agent-based Markov Chain model. The simulator
produces occupant schedules at the room- and individualoccupant level that can be used in building simulations.
Occupant-Variability Gem: An OpenStudio extension
gem for modeling occupancy and occupant-driven loads
in buildings.
