In general, there is a clear correlation between educational attainment and earnings. When it comes to the
difference of living in poverty and financial stability, a college degree can make all the difference. New York
State has a slightly higher proportion of adults 25 and over with at least a college bachelor’s degree or higher
(37.5%) compared to the U.S average (32.9%). In the table below it can be noted that Steuben and Yates
Counties report around the same percentages of individuals 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or higher at
around 25% of the population.
