Head Start Eligible Children Aged Three and Four
In the Pro Action service area, an estimated 1,403 three- and four-year-old children are eligible for Head
Start based on the number of children born by school district figures and rates of economically
disadvantaged families served by those districts. The program in 2021-2022 was funded to serve 283
preschoolers, leaving 1,120 estimated to be eligible who cannot be served. Therefore, the program is
funded to serve only 20 percent of the children estimated to be eligible for it. The table below shows the
eligibility estimates.
