2. Community Member Survey results
When asked if they were financially better off, worse off, about the same, or experiencing a mix of bad and
good changes over the past three years, the smallest group of respondents to the Community Member
Survey answered "better off" (N=59, 14.9%), as shown in Figure 2A. 85 (21.4%) said they were worse off,
142 (35.8%) "about the same," and 111 (28.0%)"some things are better, some worse." We purposely
chose a timeframe that spanned the pandemic (so far) so that respondents would use a time before COVID
as their basis for comparison.

As shown in Figures 2A and 2B below, the correlation between the question about being better or worse
off financially with the respondents' ability to consistently pay their bills on time and set aside money for
emergencies provides some important information about how things are going for the respondents to the
Community Member Survey. It was clear that "about the same" was not equivalent to "some things are
