3. Working and still struggling: ALICE data (Asset Limited, Income Constrained,
Employed)
As discussed earlier, it takes 2-3 times more income than 100% FPL in our area for a family to meet their
basic needs. Often families with very low income qualify for programs that provide services with
significant monetary value, e.g., Medicaid, Head Start, and WIC. However, as income goes up, eligibility for
these programs drops off quickly, and usually before the family has enough income to replace their value
